Kyrano-uk – Para-aramid

Strong and light: weight for weight, Kyrano-uk para-aramid is five times stronger than steel.

Fabrics

Knitted para-aramid – weight 400 gsm

Jersey para-aramid – weight 240 gsm

Kyrano-uk para-aramid is a man made fibre, which gives excellent protection against abrasion and cuts. It is also gives high levels of resistance against puncture, tearing, slash and heat. This fibre is also used in ballistic protection in hard and soft armour

Both the above high-tech fabrics are non-abrasive materials and are comfortable against the skin. They are designed to give breathability and flexibility, they feel comfortable and most importantly they give excellent abrasion protection.

Washing / care

Kyrano-uk liners and jeans are machine washable / dryable and require no maintenance.

When you wash your Kyrano-uk liner’s ideally dry them indoors.

Do not wash in bleach.

The para-aramid will go a darker shade of gold with exposure to sunlight, this is not only normal but to be expected. All para-aramid fabrics lose their strength in direct sunlight that is why we use the Kyrano-uk para-aramid as a liner. Some companies now dye their para-aramid black therefore encouraging people to wear the item as a normal long sleeve t-shirt. However they forget to mention any disadvantages in doing so, with the above in mind we believe this is irresponsible.

History

The term “Aramid” is short for “aromatic polyamide”. Aramid fibres are man-made high performance fibres. Their molecules are characterized by relatively rigid polymer chains, linked by strong hydrogen bonds that transfer mechanical stress. This permits the use of chains of relatively low molecular weight. Aromatic polyamides were first introduced in commercial applications in the early 1960s. Para-aramid was first introduced in the mid 1970s. Para-aramids are used in many high-tech applications, such as aerospace and military applications, for “bullet-proof” body armour fabric.
Kyrano-uk uses a very strong, light para-aramid fibre. It has a high modulus, and is thermally stable, and highly impact and chemical resistant. It also has excellent dimensional stability.

Please note - The para-aramid will go a darker shade of gold with exposure to sunlight. Sunlight can mark the fabric (photo below); this is to be expected with all para-aramid fabrics. This should not cause any concern and is quite normal.
